Now Enjoy!

COVID had shook up my world pretty bad. Furloughed from my day job, I had to make ends meet. I started doing food delivery for the local ride share company. It was terrible. But, it paid the bills. Plus, I liked earning my living. Eight years in college and two finance degrees later, here I was delivering Sushi on a cold and rainy Wednesday evening during a global pandemic. Gotta love it.

I hated the way sushi made my car smell. And, the GPS had my ETA as forty minutes. I wasn’t a happy camper. But, I centered myself. I found gratitude that I did have a way to make ends meet and pressed on. I turned on some music and got lost in my head a bit. Before you know it, I pulled up to my delivery’s residence.

It was a pretty sublime home. Nothing unusual or amazing about it. I texted my customer via our delivery app on my cell got out and rang the doorbell. No one answered. The rain had started coming down pretty hard and I was growing more aggravated by the second. I knocked. Still nothing. I went to knock again and before my fist could hit the door again, the door swung open.

“Oh my god, I’m so sorry”

A deep husky deep feminine voice bellowed.

We made eye contact. Bronze skin, toned arms, tall and slim.

She was flat out beautiful.

“No problem, have a nice evening.” I shot back surprised but still perturbed. I was aggravated but I understood. People get preoccupied. I began to turn to walk back to my vehicle when again she bellowed.

“No I feel terrible. Please, please if you don’t mind come inside while the rain dies down. The least I can do is make you a cup of coffee.”

Is this kindness? In this world?

I paused for a second. The rain was coming down harder and more violently.

“Sure. Thank you, I appreciate it.”

I took her up on her offer.

I slid past her in the doorway and caught her scent. She smelled like sweet perfume. Did she just get off of work?
My mind was racing as I stepped into her home. It was warm, cozy and a breath of fresh air from the brewing storm that was outside.
