The lover of Lisa

Joe asked me where I had been and why I had not called. I attempted to
explain that I had lost his card and I apologized explaining that I had
really intended to call him. He accepted my explanation and we started
to talk, almost from the point where we were at when we had stopped five
months earlier. As the evening progressed Joe and I moved to a table for
diner. He refused to let me pay my part, such a gentleman. We went from
the dining area to a small set of stools near a small dance floor area
back by the bar and sat at the tables there while a DJ spun records that
weren’t too loud for those that were talking to have to speak over.

Again, I must say in my defense, that I wasn’t really ready for this. I
was looking for my exit moment when Joe suggested that we dance. The
song was about half over and the dance floor had two other couples on
it, so I figured with the speed of the song, it was a safe thing to do,
and I would be standing at the end so I could gracefully say my goodbye.
I let Joe help me up from my seat and with his arm around me he steered
me off to the dance floor.

Maybe I misjudged the music, but just as we were getting ready to start
dancing the song ended, so there we were looking at each other with no
music to dance to and us waiting for the next song to spin. And then it
came up. This was the point when the DJ decided to change the tempo. The
song started out and I had two choices, either tell Joe I couldn’t dance
slowly, or let Joe lead. Joe took the lead. He reached out and pulled me
towards him. I choose not to fight it and make a scene and flowed into
his embrace as we started to slowly move to the music. Five months
earlier, while slipping out of a booth, I had some idea of the package
Joe carried, and my effect on him. This time there was no doubt in my
