The Farm

He was showered and dressed leisurely. He picked up a duffel bag filled with his clothes for the weekend. He went down the steps and started his black 2009 Chevy Silverado 1500 crew cab pick-up truck. He headed off to send his c***d support payments through a money transfer service. After collecting his receipts and taking pictures of them so he could text them to each baby momma, he pulled into a drive-thru and ordered a chicken tenders meal with an extra-large sweet tea. He navigated to the highway and drove towards his hometown.

Stefon wished Kyra a good day and reminded her that his brothers would be down tonight. He went to the parking lot and got in his blue pearl-coat 2013 Dodge Charger SRT8. He revved up the engine for no reason, then left the institution of higher learning slowly. He stopped at the grocery store and bought some items to ensure he and his brothers had some essential food items to complement the Boston Butt and ribs Marcus was going to put on the grill tonight. He also bought two cases of beer and some bottled water. He put the groceries in the car and went to the outskirts of town to the old farmhouse.

Stefon arrived and unloaded the car. He was living in the two-story home. It was still in decent shape, but needed some touch-ups.

The Jenkins boys’ mother was one of four c***dren their grandparents had. Their mom had an older sister, an older brother, and a younger brother. Their aunt was a retired schoolteacher – she and her husband never had c***dren. The older uncle never married – he never came out of the closet to their grandparents, but he was clearly gay. Their younger uncle got killed in a fatal car crash when he was just twenty years old. So, their grandparents decided the house and land should be left to the three grandboys.
