The Audition

intriguing human beings I had ever met.
We moved over to El Quijote on twenty-third for dinner. Her fingers
rested on my wrist as we chatted over dinner. It turned out she had a
small apartment in Chelsea. Would I care to se it and hear her play?
I would have been mad to refuse.
For someone new to the City, she had done well. The apartment was
fascinatingly cluttered with books and artsy objects. A baby grand took
up most of the small living room.
Her playing was phenomenal. I thought Teddy Wilson had a light touch but
Randi's fingers were like butterflies touching the keys. Her finger span
was impressive. I wasn't sure whether I was falling in love or in lust
when I thought about what those fingers could do to my body. And as I
stood behind her as she pleased, I noted her great cleavage, especially
for so slender a girl. "Don't do anything precipitously," I reasoned.
This could be a great gig.
Randi pushed me out the door after impressing me with her technique
pianistic technique that is. I was to come back with my axe (bass) on
Saturday morning and try a few sets with her. She placed her finger tips

She stroked my face and the door closed leaving me to make my way home.
Saturday at 10:30 I showed up. Randi opened the door. She wore a blue
velvet floor length robe. A silver pandant highlighted the front. I got
a kiss on the cheek. This didn't seem like any ordinary musical
relationship. Guess I would check with local 802 to see if they had a
rule to cover union musicians falling for ... I checked myself for being
stupidly conceited. It was just her way.
The session went well. Randi was ecstatic. She opened a bottle of
Riesling after leading me into her tiny kitchen. Cold lunch never looked
so good. Randy sat back on the couch swinging her legs to her side. The
skirts of her robe parted giving me a glimpse of her white satiny
panties. (Never underestimate the erotic power of white.) I had never
met such a classy, creative, reserved yet sexy human being.
