"You just go back the way you came," she said. I gulped.

"Listen, I don't think I remember how I got here. Let me make you an offer. Why don't you join me for dinner, and afterwards I can give you a lift home and you can give me directions to the hotel. How does that sound?"

Chantal smiled, and pushed her hand through her shoulder-length dark hair. "Alright, Mr. James. Those terms sound agreeable to me."

"Please, call me Alan."

Dinner was excellent. The food was spectacular, just as Chantal had promised. Chantal and I had an excellent conversation. Chantal was working at the hotel until January, when she was going back to school for architecture. As I was in construction, we had an excellent discussion about the business.
