A Test Drive

Harry slowly walked around the car, running his hand along the hood and up onto the rooftop. He peeked at the sticker and then moved to look inside. He paused, then looked back at the sticker, trying not to show too much elation to the sales woman standing on the other side of the car.

"The price is a little steep, but it is a nice car."

"Yes, and have you looked at the gas mileage it gets?"

"Wow, that's surprisingly good," he said, looking up from the mileage information to look at the sales woman. "How does it run?"

"Well, keys are in it."

"Yeah, they are, maybe I'll just take it out for a test drive."

"Sounds good to me," she replied, watching him climb into the driver's seat.

"Aren't you coming?" Harry asked as she remained standing outside the car.

"Oh, sorry," she replied, climbing in beside him.

Harry started the car, drove slowly between the parked cars in the area and turned out onto the street. Accelerating quickly he noticed a bit of commotion behind him on the lot, but changing lanes he eased over onto the freeway entrance ramp and eased into the fast moving traffic. In a moment the car dealership was far out of sight.

"I like the acceleration it has," Harry said to the woman, "I'm Harry by the way."

"I'm Jules," the woman replied, reaching her hand out to shake.

"Short for Juliene I suppose."

"Something like that," she replied.

"How far can I go with this?"

"As far as you like," she replied seductively, "Oh, you mean the car?"

Harry laughed, pulling around a slower car and pushing the gas petal to the floor. The car accelerated easily up to nearly one hundred miles per hour. He then eased up a little, slowing back down to the speed limit.

He continued down the highway for a few more miles then turned on his blinker and moved over to the right lane. "I think I'll take the second exit and turn around to head back," he said.
