A Slice of Life - Ch. 1

Opening the door a crack, I peep my head out. “Something I can do for you, officer?”

He’s an older man, probably mid-fifties, with a bushy salt-n-pepper mustache and thick glasses. “Excuse me, are you Keira Heisler?” he asks.

“Yessir.”

The look in his eyes is grim. Reaching inside his coat pocket, he sighs. “Sorry about this.” Without warning, he zaps me with a tazer, and before I even know what’s going on, I collapse onto my front step. He continues to hold the trigger down, electrocuting me til everything goes black. Mercifully, I pass out. But before I do, I wonder if I’m going to die.
